Autumn is the high season for art exhibitions.
Last week, I visited two exhibitions featuring two Kogei Art KYOTO artists.
The first was “RAKUCHU KANSEI ART EXHIBITION KYOTO 2023,” in which Koken Murata exhibited his work.
We were invited to a preview of the exhibition on the day before it opened to the public.
The first was “RAKUCHU KANSEI ART EXHIBITION KYOTO 2023,” in which Koken Murata exhibited his work.
Sennyuji Temple, the exhibition venue, was founded by Kobo Daishi. It is a prestigious temple that has received the patronage of successive emperors and is also the family temple of the Imperial Family.

Thirteen artists participated in this exhibition, and Mr. Murata’s work was displayed in one of the rooms of the “Hondo.”
A folding screen with an image of the universe was a work that gave the impression of a very grand expansion.

“RAKUCHU KANSEI ART EXHIBITION KYOTO 2023” will be held until December 10.
The second exhibition was Issey Hattori‘s first solo exhibition.

t was held at the Art Gallery of the Kyoto Takashimaya Department Store.
Many of Hattori’s masterpieces were on display, mainly decorative boxes, in which maki-e, mother-of-pearl inlay, and Tamamushi techniques were abundant.

Mr. Hattori’s solo exhibition ended on Monday, December 4.
