In between taking out the POP UP event at Shuiro today, I visited Kenji Omachi‘s solo exhibition at the Kyoto Museum of Photography, which is being held diagonally across the street from Shuiro.
Mr. Omachi is a Lacquer Artwork artist, and is active in the world of Lacquer Artwork, having created and invented a new technique, “Sai Kikko”, which combines traditional Lacquer Artwork techniques with new materials such as 3D printing technology and Kyoto Opal.
This is the fifth exhibition of his “Maki-e Artist’s Point of View,” a fusion of photography and Lacquer Artwork, which includes his technique of applying his own “Saikiko” to camera grips.
By applying his techniques to camera grips, he says his interest in photography-related art has deepened even further.
The exhibition will be held at Gallery Japanesque, Kyoto Museum of Photography, 2nd floor until December 24 (Sun.).
