NFT Certificate Issuance

All artworks purchased on this website come with an IC-tagged NFT blockchain certificate called a Startrail Registry Record (SRR). The SRR uses the Startrail blockchain infrastructure that guarantees the reliability and authenticity of a work of art and helps maintain its value. Startrail is managed principally by Startbahn, Inc.

The certificate contains information on the work of art, including its size, digital image, year of production and other information, and is registered in Startrail. It is also managed and administered by the Startrail PORT NFT management service provided by Startbahn.

A card or seal IC tag is attached to each artwork. The IC tag can be scanned with a smartphone to confirm information on the artwork. This can be used to prove ownership.

Once an NFT has been issued, the customer must create an account with Startrail PORT. Also, to create that account, please be aware that the customer must provide their email address to Startbahn.

Procedure to Transfer the NFT Certificate for a Work of Art

The email address that a custom registers when they purchase a work of art is used to transfer the NFT certificate.

After KARAFUNEYA, who administers Kogei Art KYOTO, registers the customer’s email address in Startrail PORT, an email message is sent to the customer’s email address from Startrail PORT informing the customer of the transfer of the NFT and asking the customer to accept transfer. Be sure to use the registered email address to create an account with Startrail PORT.

The customer must create an account with Startrail PORT.

If the customer does not create an account, transfer of the NFT will not be completed.

Please be aware that the customer must provide their email address to Startbahn.

Note: Purchased artworks will be shipped regardless of whether or not you have completed the NFT registration process. Therefore, the order in which you complete the registration process (step 3) and the arrival of the artwork (step 4) may be interchanged.

Procedures after Receiving an SRR

Once you have received an SRR, you can download a digital image of the work of art and a file containing information on that work of art from Startrail PORT. You can use these to look through or check information on the work of art.

Relinquishing the Work of Art

If you sell or otherwise relinquish the work of art, please be sure to transfer the SRR to the new owner.

If there are any contract terms with respect to the work of art, please obtain consent to them before the purchase of the work or the transfer the NFT certificate.

Make sure that the NFT tag is sent with the work of art.

What is an NFT?

“NFT” is an acronym for “non-fungible token.” An NFT is one type of token that is managed on a blockchain. Blockchains represent a technology that was developed to implement cryptocurrency (i.e., virtual money).

NFT Blockchain Certification

Blockchain technology can be used to build networks to enable the distribution and appraisal of artwork. Certificates can be attached to not only digital artwork, but also to physical artwork. When an NFT is issued for a physical work of art, a wide variety of information and data related to the value of the work is recorded, including the company or person who issued the NFT, later exhibitions the work was displayed in, and later sales of the work, as well as any repairs or appraisals made. The NFT can be used for longterm management of the work of art because set agreements on secondary distribution and use can be inherited across services. Blockchains are designed so that this information cannot be deleted, altered, or copied. In other words, an abundance of data that protects the value of a work of art can be recorded, and the cultural value of the work can be inherited historically.
