Continuing from last week’s article, we will report on the exhibitions in which the artists exhibiting at Kogei Art KYOTO are participating.
Makimasa Imai in artKYOTO 2024
“artKYOTO” was first held in 2019. It is an art fair where galleries and art dealers from Japan and overseas exhibit and sell their works in the setting of World Heritage sites and cultural properties.
This year, the fair was held at Shoseien, a scenic spot within the precincts of Higashi Honganji Temple. Four buildings scattered around the strolling garden served as exhibition venues.
Imai’s works were displayed in the garden’s sencha tea ceremony house, called the “Tairitsu-seki”, together with the works of his father, the late Masayuki Imai, a recipient of the Order of Cultural Merits, and his son, Sadamasa Imai, making it a family exhibition spanning three generations.

In addition, a wide range of artworks, including contemporary art, antiques, modern art, and crafts, were on display, and various cultural and artistic events were also held.
