The Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan,1 which I introduced in my March blog, finally began on April 13, so I checked it out immediately.
It was a busy day with many visitors, as it was during Japan’s Golden Week, an extended holiday period.
Additionally, since it was a weekday, I observed many elementary, junior high, and high school students visiting as part of their field school.

Despite some skepticism about its success before the event, the Expo has been a huge hit, with large crowds visiting daily (already exceeding 1 million visitors).
Many pavilions and event venues were fully booked in advance, and on the day itself, there were long lines of people waiting for hours to enter.

As a result, I couldn’t see much inside the pavilions, but the buildings themselves are unique and impressive, so just looking at them is enjoyable.
Especially after sunset, when the venue is lit up, it’s fantastic and magical, making it a prime time to visit.

In addition, at the EXPO National Day Hall, countries, regions, and international organizations participating in the Expo as “official participants” hold their National Day (for countries and regions) or Special Day (for international organizations) daily.
On this day, it was Palau’s National Day, featuring traditional dances and songs.
Additionally, there are several buildings called “Commons,” which are pavilions where countries that are not exhibiting individually come together to exhibit jointly. These are particularly worth visiting in the early evening, as there are fewer lines and it’s easier to enter. You can see exhibits from many countries at once and discover countries you may not be familiar with, making it an exciting experience.
The Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan is held in Osaka Yumeshima until October 13, so why not visit and experience it yourself?
