Daruma

I was impressed by the techniques used for Japanese confectionery, so I developed my own technique to cut clay with scissors, which I call “clay clipping,” and used that technique to create this art object. I created this unique Daruma doll by painting glazes one color at a time trying to use pop-art coloration and remaining aware of the negative space to make a colorful Japanese-type design.
