An exhibition commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Kyoto Kogei Association has been held at The Museum of Kyoto since last weekend.
Since its founding in 1946, the Kyoto Kogei Association has served as an organization for Kogei arts masters centered in Kyoto.
Masters across diverse fields such as dyeing and weaving, ceramics, and lacquerware have led the Japanese kogei arts community, producing recipients of the Living National Treasure designation and the Order of Culture.
This year marks the association’s 80th anniversary, which is being celebrated with a splendid commemorative exhibition at The Museum of Kyoto.
A preview for invited guests was held last weekend. This exhibition features new works by approximately 200 association masters, showcasing the profound depth of craftsmanship and the aesthetic sensibilities applied to each design.
All masters exhibiting at Kogei Art KYOTO are members of the association, and seven of them are participating in this exhibition.
We will also introduce their works here.
